Evaluation of Professional Practice

I enjoyed this brief. I got to know a lot about industry, how things work, the different positions of the design industry and I met many people related to design which I believe can help me in the future. More importantly I am more confident in myself and I know how to stand my ground and how to approach design agencies. I have spoken to freelance designers to creative directors and the experiences are quite different between them. I got more out of a creative director, which is what I was expecting, and they are more encouraging because most of them know in what position I am. After the industry research, I found the self promotional part challenging. I thought at first that targeting my good/bad, likes/dislikes to be simpler than it was. After that it was just a case of choosing my good aspects and leaving my not so good aspects. I think my idea is really good, I am happy with my outcome; it expresses me as a designer and as an individual. It’s simple, sleek, quirky and interactive. Any design agency that receives my self-promotional item will enjoy it, and will surely keep it somewhere handy, and show it off further down. Overall, I believe this brief has helped me significantly, I now have a slight idea of what I should expect after I graduate and be able to survive out in the real world.

My Colour Scheme

My Colour Scheme

Here is my final choice for my business cards. I like these 2 designs because the front and back connect well, not only are the colours really great the slanted design works well, and I like the simplicity this contains. This will make my business card successful for its purpose, and it works with my CV, cover letter and self promotional item.

Some more back designs for my business cards. It’s going to be a difficult choice in the end.

Some back designs for my business cards. As you can see I have included some contact information (website domain is to be added as well), and the title “Nicholas Leonida Design”. Also, I am using my colour scheme ALWAYS!

Some more front designs for my business cards. I am liking the way my colour scheme colours link between them. They combine really well.

Here are some designs of the front design of my business card. I am playing with different ways of using my colour scheme.

Business Card Design

I have come up with various business card ideas for my self promotional bundle. All business card design have a few things in common.

1) The colour scheme on all designs remains the same. (Yellow, Gray, Black)

2) Logo is on all designs.

3) All details must be on the back of the designed card.

4) To have Nicholas Leonida Design written.

Then by using the pathfinder tool on illustrator I made it one shape, making the white transparent. I like the outcome of my logo, I think it looks amazing. Last but not least, I added my full name underneath my logo.

So as you an see above I made the circle smaller and I added a black line on top of the L to give the viewer an idea of what 2 letters are contained in the circle. I really like the slanted line, it gives the logo more detail and makes it look nicer than before.
